An Honest Book of the Month Club Review

I've had a few friends reach out to me recently to say they've been considering subscribing to Book of the Month Club, but they're not sure if it's right for them.  I've been a paid BOTM subscriber since 2019, and I think it's time to finally share my honest thoughts on the subscription.

As a mood reader and book enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for the best book subscription services, but after all these years there is only one subscription I've stuck with: Book of the Month Club (BOTM). What sets BOTM apart is its unbeatable combination of popular hardcover books and affordable prices. With each monthly selection, I find myself eagerly anticipating the arrival of my blue box, knowing that inside lies a potential new favorite book.

One of the aspects I adore most about BOTM is the carefully curated selection spanning a wide array of genres. Whether I'm in the mood for a gripping thriller, a heartwarming romance, or a thought-provoking literary masterpiece, BOTM never disappoints. What's more, each month's picks often introduce me to stories and authors I might not have stumbled upon otherwise, pushing me out of my comfort zone. While I appreciate the comfort of diving into a genre I know and love, I also look forward to the opportunity to step outside my reading comfort zone and explore something entirely fresh and unexpected. With BOTM, I'm constantly challenged to expand my literary palate, while also indulging in the stories I know I'll adore. At the beginning of each month, BOTM offers a selection of five or six new releases, and you can pick the book (or books!) that you're most excited about.  If for any reason you don't want to receive any of that month's choice, you can pick a member favorite book or skip the month altogether.

A third bonus (and honestly one of my favorites) is that all BOTM editions are the same height.  If you're looking to build a cohesive collection of hardcover books, BOTM edition may quickly become your favorites.

Which brings me to the one downside of BOTM for some readers. If you are obsessed with sprayed edges, signed copies, and special editions, then you may want to look into one of the pricier book boxes like Illumicrate or Owl Crate.

If you're looking to break your reading slump or grow your home library at an affordable price, it's time to Book of the Month a try. To say thanks for making it all the way to the end of this review, CLICK HERE to get a discount on your first blue box!
